Dear Friends,
In these last days of March and my last days in the US, I’m sending my friends around the world spring greetings! I have completed five paintings for a submission project, to possibly have an exhibition at a major public venue. I previewed two images last month and I’m fascinated by the subject…Water in Orange County. For this proposal, I will do paintings in all five districts of Orange County, focusing on Aesthetic, Natural, Historic and Environmental water in Southern California. It’s an exciting project which is leading me to a new expression in the work. Please tell me your thoughts on these images!
Many people saw the video of my presentation at the Newport Beach Library, but for those of you who didn’t get a chance to see it, here is the link. (https://youtu.be/rcrFJ7SqGhc )
I return to France to start a new residency in the beautiful Villa Les Colombières (The Dovecote) in Menton, which is right next to the Italian border on the Mediterranean. Read more about it here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Colombières). Menton is possibly my favorite small city in France. The villa was created by Ferdinand Bac in the 1920’s, with he being the architect, landscape artist, fresco painter, ceramicist, novelist and historian. The property is a jewel, and I am excited to start in April. More on this later this month with some new images. Until then…
In art,
Gianne
