I love the holiday season: it’s a time to joyously gather with family and friends, with lots of opportunities to see art in fun places!
The annual open house for Laguna Canyon Artists Studios is December 2-3 from 11 am – 4 pm. My studio (H4) will be featuring beautifully framed plein air paintings and seascapes. This is always a lovely time to visit artists in their studios and interact with them in a relaxed atmosphere. The studios are located at 3251 Laguna Canyon Road (just north of Big Bend). Ample parking is available.
From my recent residency, Cactus at Ruth Bancroft Garden was juried into the Fourth Annual Laguna Plein Air Painters Association “LPAPA Squared” all-member show. The online virtual gallery goes from December 4-January 8. To see the work in person, December 7-January 8, please visit that LPAPA Gallery, 414 North Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach.
I’m a member of Orange County Center for Contemporary Art and enjoy interacting with this diverse group of artists. OCCCA’s gallery space is located at 117 N Sycamore in Santa Ana. The annual Pop Up holiday show and exhibition runs opens December 1, 12:00 to 5:00 pm preview and silent auction. December 2, Opening at Art Walk from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. If you are anywhere close to Santa Ana, please come…this is a super fun event, with a lot of locals and people who love art! The gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00-5:00 pm, and the show closes December 16. I have five beloved paintings hung in the show, shown above.
I donated a piece for the OCCCA silent auction, Rose Laurel. This auction is a great opportunity to support OCCCA and acquire a piece at a low cost; auction bids for the art starts at $250. The piece is shown below.
The Art + Nature show at the Laguna Community Center Susie Q closes December 13, where I have one piece hanging in the great room, Yellow Roses on a Path, painted in Antibes in 2017 at the Eilenroc Chateau. This is a favorite painting of mine, shown below on top.
Finally, I have been once again invited to submit a painting for the prestigious Laguna Art Museum California Cool auction that will take place in early February; more details on that fun event next time.
