Dear Friends and Collectors,
The days are shorter, and the sun dims earlier, but I continue to look for the light in my painting. In late October, I was invited to speak to the Women Painters West group about how I came to be painting in remarkable gardens around the world. There is a good, albeit hour long video of my presentation. Get a glass of wine and enjoy at this link.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yscoMUkGVug
Ray Roberts, my maestro in the very difficult genre of plein air, hosted a three day workshop in La Jolla. It is a privilege to work with one of the best painters working in the plein air today while making new friendships in this specialized and fulfilling painting genre.
October took me to Cuernavaca, Mexico to complete a significant commission for a dear friend, finding inspiration in her lush garden and pool. It was a challenge to bring my materials on a plane to Mexico, including stretcher bars and traditionally prepared canvas plus oil paints, but impossible to complete without. It was a special time to be in such beautiful city with dear friends. Thank you Onagh for sharing your beautiful villa with me to paint.
The annual Laguna Canyon Art Studios open house is Saturday, December 7 11:00-5f:00. Sunday, December 8, I will be there from 11:00-1:00. This is a fun event where you can tour the studios of working artists. I’d be delighted if you could join me for light refreshments. There’s plenty of off-street parking. 3251 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. Finally, I return to Sunnylands Annenberg Foundation in Rancho Mirage for two separate workshops. Saturday, February 1and Sunday, February 2. Sunnylands is a spectacular venue, so if your travels take you to the desert, this could be a lovely weekend for you. These workshops also tend to sell out, so please register early.https://sunnylands.org/event/art-workshop-still-life-in-pastel/
Wishing you all bright and hopeful holidays and
Yours In Art
